Wow, this is really what I needed to hear today. I'm sick and I have my first half marathon on Sunday (that you helped me train for with NRC, so thank you!) and I was feeling bad about not being able to do the runs this final week. But I know that resting up so I'm as healthy as possible for the race is the right thing to do. Thank you for this!

Thanks, Coach. Very seriously, I talk about my running coach and I mean you. You have changed my life in a hundred positive ways, and one of the best that echoes and reverberates throughout other areas of my life is I don’t let the jackass voices win anymore. I believe I’m doing my best. There’s an old Mountain Goats song where John Darnielle writes, “Some days I think I’d feel better if I tried harder/ most days I know that’s not true.” As someone who lives with severe chronic illness and came to running late in life, ALL of your coaching is a gift, but the kindness— and how it is always about running and not about running— that’s the beautiful thing. Thank you Coach.

Exactly what I needed to hear today. I maxed out after two sets of intervals knowing I had one more to go but I couldn’t. I listened to my body today and stopped at two sets. I open my phone and got this newsletter and It made my day! Thank you Coach Bennett!! You are the best!

I am starting to get sick and all I can think of is, you have 6 weeks until your half. I know I need to focus on getting healthy. But my mind is telling me YOU HAVE 6 WEEKS LEFT TO TRAIN. YOU NEED TO RUN. The struggle is real and your post was perfect timing.
