If you don’t respect the run, you don’t respect yourself! It is OK to walk if I am tired, sometimes I struggle with that. I feel guilty or like I failed. I am so appreciative of your words that always remind me that it is OK not to be OK! 😊
I've grown to embrace those days when it's hot, humid, and miserable outside. Everyday is not 70 and sunny and that's when you truly learn to respect the elements and the run ahead of you. That's where you build strength and mental endurance.
My run failed yesterday for similar reasons. South of France and it was pretty hot. I run by the river and there wasn’t much shade and I’d been lazy that morning and it was really too late in the day to run.
But I tried... and because I was being doubly disrespectful, I did a slightly different route which was uphill.
Anyway. The run demanded respect and I had to admit that it was right. I walked the last bit and promised myself I would be less of an idiot next time.
Tomorrow is ‘next time’ and I have a flat route and an early start planned.

One of the best emails I have ever received.
